THIRA Health seeks a skilled and flexible Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with excellent communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills. The ideal candidate must be a healthcare worker with crisis management experience in a fast-paced environment, be able to effectively work with acute adolescent and adult female behavioral health patients, and be able to accurately use electronic medical programs to chart and track patients. The CNA is an integral part of the multidisciplinary THIRA Health treatment team and reports to the Chief Medical Officer. The CNA is responsible for attending to patient medical needs and assisting in the maintenance of a safe therapeutic environment.

Our Leadership: THIRA’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mehri Moore, brings with her over 35 years of experience, which she applies in her care and guidance over each individual’s experience. THIRA’s Clinical Director, Dr. Kathryn Korslund, recently transitioned to THIRA after spending her career as research scientist at UW’s Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinics (BRTC) and working alongside Dr. Marsha Linehan on further developing and evaluating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Our multi-disciplinary team is comprised of passionate clinicians from a variety of backgrounds in order to serve each individual in a holistic manner.

Job Requirements:

  • Assist THIRA nurse to create, maintain, and track patient health history and medical documentation
  • Perform skin check on patients with a history of Non-Suicidal Self Injury (NSSI) and inform the team of any observed evidence of recent NSSI
  • Assist patients with self-administered medication while on-site at program
  • Administer lab orders and call in prescription refills on behalf of the Chief Medical Officer
  • Observe and report changes in patient’s behaviors, physical symptoms, and mental health status to the clinical team, including licensed nurse and Chief Medical Officer
  • Conduct vital sign exams on a weekly basis and document quickly and accurately in electronic health record
  • Support and assist psychotherapists, dietitians, art therapist, and milieu support therapist in creating and maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu environment
  • Assist with medical supply ordering and track usage of these supplies
  • Perform job duties while complying with all HIPAA, institutional and health department regulations


Required experience:

  • GED, Associate's, or Bachelor's level degree
  • Minimum 1-year CNA experience with current CNA certification in Washington State
  • Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) to document patient medical and behavioral health data

Preferred experience:

  • Experience working on an inpatient behavioral health/psychiatric unit (IPU) partial hospitalization program (PHP), or intensive outpatient (IOP)
